As posted by the moderator 2 months ago "The paperwork has a final due date of Friday, July 13th. Once we review all of the docs we receive, Amazon will start the process to distribute prizes. The affidavit noted that we ask you to allow 8-10 weeks. Typically, they arrive faster than that, but there are a lot of you! :)" it has not been 8 weeks yet since July 13th.
If 10 weeks pass and we still haven't heard a peep out of the mods about prizes again I might start considering this a little odd, but it has been stated multiple times that prizes will arrive between 8 and 10 weeks after July 13th. That would make the earliest we would get it September 7th if we have to wait exactly 8 weeks. I wouldn't start jumping to conclusions calling this a scam when it hasn't even been 8 weeks yet since July 13th. I doubt Devpost would risk losing reputation for a bunch of Echo Dots.
I totally understand that want your participation prizes. The affidavits stated delivery in 8-10 weeks. This window has not yet passed. We were advised that distribution is planned in the next few days. We do not have a specific date or information on each specific winner's expected delivery date. If any new information is available, we will definitely share it with you. Hang tight!
Has anyone received their participation prize yet? Hasn't been an update in 2 weeks so just curious if anyone has received theirs. I have not, but this is week 8 of the "8 to 10 weeks" we were given....so hoping for seeing the prize before 2 more weeks is up.
Only thing I know is I did a competition a long time ago for a limited edition alexa skill hoodie and got it in about 2 months. Still hopeful, but it isn't looking that good...I just don't think they would go through the trouble of having us sign affidavits if we weren't ever going to get something. But who knows. They have a A+ BBB rating so hopefully they don't scam people.
It is very disappointing from Amazon that they can't send the participation prize. Why you are conducting a hackathon if you cannot distribute a prize.
@Stefanie Maccarone can we have some information when prize distribution will be done or Amazon is just playing with us.
Just received an email with instructions to recieve my prize. Kind of disappointed it isn't really a "limited edition" echo dot like the rules said it would be. But at this point anything is better than nothing. Anyone else get the email?
Didn't receive any email regarding code - I am hoping to receive Limited-edition Echo Dot (Approximate retail value: USD$55.00) as promised in the Hackathon rules instead of the regular echo dot which one can easily get for $25.
@S Kumar Unfortunately it doesn't look like we will be getting limited edition ones as we were lead on to believe we were getting. My dot I ordered with the code will arrive Thursday so it definitely isn't anything more than a basic dot. Was really looking forward to a dot with at least a skin or our skills etched in them.
The code I received doesn't work on the echo dot generation 2 white or black and Amazon wont honor it. They said they will only provide me a refund after I order and pay for it myself. I have a screenshot of the customer service chat.
Total scam imho. No limited edition and my code doesn't even work??
My Echo Dot is "Out for Delivery" and should arrive today. I'm sure that it isn't anything special beyond a standard Echo Dot that I already have since it shipped so fast after submitting the order. Still haven't had any updates from the Devpost team about why some haven't gotten codes and why we were told the Echo Dot would be "limited edition" when it's in fact just a standard Echo Dot anyone can buy off eBay for $20. A little disappointed.
@Stefanie Maccarone, I suppose you are the moderator but it is very disappointing that you are doing nothing even reply to questions on the forum. Can you please tell me when my participation prize will come.
